Uncertain of the weather, I brought along my new Aquascutum trench to the cricket on Friday. Wedges are the best shoe wear for party events on the grass and my dress is by my very talented friend Alice Temperley. My satchel like bag held bits and bobs needed for whatever eventuality a long day at the cricket might bring..DSC_0023
Lunch and speeches were followed by this amusing dessert..P1030261

We watched the cricket in lovely weather..

I came inside the marquee for a moment’s rest..P1030282
And there I found a book to which I was drawn..P1030287
I have, since I was a little girl loved books about Hollywood at the time of its early films. So imagine my delight when, whilst pouring over the book and in a moment of raising my eyes from the page, in should walk Peggy Cummins. I had just been looking at the picture of her wedding day in the book.

She exuded still, in these now later years, a movie star quality with an elegance only seen rarely today.
The cricket at Burton court was a great day with a most worthy cause and what a treat for me at the end!
